The finale episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 left the viewers asking about the fate of Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) in the CW TV series. Executive producer Julie Plec gave an answer to the burning question of whether the two characters will return or not.

Thousands of TVD fans are expressing their hope of seeing Damon Salvatore again on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter and it looks like their wish will be granted. In the Entertainment Weekly interview, Julie Plec is convinced that the Other Side is really gone for good but there is still a possibility that the viewers can see Bonnie and Damon again in the show.

"We will definitely see Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham on the show. I mean, there's a million different ways that you can do that. But as far as in what context - how, why, and where? - that's part of the mystery," Julie Plec teased.

The executive producer further discussed what the fans can expect in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 with the characters that came back from the Other Side like Enzo (Michael Malarkey), Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Alaric (Matt Davis).

According to Julie Plec, Tyler Lockwood returned a human being with the werewolf gene so the character will be in an "interesting predicament." The executive producer explained that Tyler's return is like a do-over but he must be able to fully control himself so his werewolf curse will not be triggered.

As for Enzo, Julie Plec assured that the viewers "have not seen the last of the delicious Michael Malarkey" because he is a "wonderful addition" to the TVD cast. The executive producer further confirmed that Michael Malarkey will be a series regular in "The Vampire Diaries."

Another actor that will be a series regular is Matt Davis who portrays Alaric Saltzman. Julie Plec confirmed that Alaric is still a "super Original" vampire. "We never really got to see him deal with having become a vampire, because Esther had gotten in his head and screwed with his brain so badly that he just kinda became the villain with no conscience," Julie Plec explained.

The executive producer teased that a good storyline awaits Alaric because he is a weird vampire breed and he is uncertain if he likes it. When asked if "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 is the final season of the CW TV series, Julie Plec revealed that it is not on the radar yet.

"You could ask 10 different people that question and you'd get 10 different answers, in terms of how long the life of the show is. Warner Bros. would say, '17 seasons!' And I think I would say, 'Seven!' [Laughs] Presumably we'll land somewhere closer to my wishes or theirs, depending on the circumstances," Julie Plec shared.
