Samsung's push into private bank debt and government bonds underscores the challenges faced by the electronics giant in managing its massive cash holdings, with local banks reluctant to overload on short-term deposits from Samsung. Samsung Galaxy S5 users can now introduce a range of improvements to their devices through a new update. The Android 4.4.2 firmware promises to bring camera improvements and bug fixes. The update has started rolling out in Europe since July 23 and should trickle to other regions and carriers soon. Samsung claims that the Galaxy S5 update promises to bring 'improved performance' in the units. The update comes via the firmware version XXU1ANG2. Some users may have access over the firmware already while others need to wait depending on their network.

Samsung has not provided specific details about the performance improvements brought by Android 4.4.2 KitKat. According to Trusted Reviews, people can expect the update to be in two stages. Initially, there is a 194MB update then a 1MB download comes after.

Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE users can also update their devices to Android 4.4.2. According to Team Android, the update should be available via Over-the-Air or OTA release. People can also update via Samsung KIES. However, for those who cannot access the update via KIEs, they can install the update manually on their phone. Team Android provides an overview of the firmware update for Galaxy S5 LTE:

The device should be rooted with recovery tool installed. It should also be charged at least 80% to avoid power interruptions. It is also best for users to back up all important files and settings before manually updating. A backup of the previous update should also be done. This will be convenient should users prefer the original Android platform than the update. The update is specifically for SM-G900F. Trying out manual installation to other devices may lead to problems. It is best to check if the Galaxy S5 handset is eligible for the update.
