“True Blood” star Anna Paquin recalled the most awkward sex scene she had in the show, thanks to a director whom she refused to name.
The Kiwi actress, who turns 32 on July 24, revealed how things got weird during the filming of one of her numerous sex scenes.
As “True Blood” fans know, sex is almost a fixture in every episode of the HBO fantasy series. And as the main character Sookie Stackhouse, Paquin has had intimate scenes filmed with her real life husband Stephen Moyer (who plays the vampire Bill Compton), Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman), Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte), Joe Manganiello (Alcide Herveaux) and Robert Kazinsky (Warlow).
Moyer has even directed a few of Paquin’s sex scenes with other men in the show, and there had been no awkwardness whatsoever between the husband and wife.
However, there was one time when things didn’t go swimmingly during shooting.
In an interview with the Huffington Post, Paquin recalled a time when an unnamed director, presumably not Moyer, was so uncomfortable in saying the word “breast” that it made the filming awkward for her and Skarsgard, her partner in the particular scene.
“We had one director once, who will remain nameless, who was so uncomfortable that he couldn’t even say the word ‘breast.’ It was me and [Skarsgard], and he was kissing me on the neck at the time, and [the director] was like, ‘Okay, kiss her neck. Now kiss her lower neck. Now kiss her lower, lower, lower neck,’” she told host Alyona Minkovski.
“I was like, ‘Dude, it’s breasts.’ Come on, this is like season four of ‘True Blood.’ We can say ‘breasts’ or ‘tits’ or whatever.”
The experience was so different from when Moyer directed her scenes.
As Moyer told Entertainment Weekly, directing the mother of his twin children is just a normal day for them.
“There are moments where I’ll be watching on a monitor [and say], ‘Oh, Joe, just move your hand up towards Anna’s breast. Good. And can you move your right thumb just a little bit towards her nipple? Great.’ And then I’ll go, ‘Babe, babe, enjoy it.’
“I’m certainly talking to her as ‘babe.’ ‘Darling, go for it. Yeah, feel the nipple.’”
Meanwhile, Paquin has unveiled a new, purple ‘do, which Moyer approves.
The Oscar-winning actress, a natural brunette who dyed her hair blonde for the show, tweeted her new look, asking her husband what he thought of her new hair.
