The Samsung Software Development Kits (SDK) are now available for the Galaxy S5 and Samsung Gear 2.
Following the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5 at the MWC 2014 held at Barcelona, Spain, the SDK were introduced to over 500 app developers from around the world at the Samsung Developer Day.
Dr. Won-Pyo Hong, President and Head of Samsung Electronics Media Solutions Centre announced at the MWC 2014 that Samsung has nine SDKs available as of the moment, wherein three are new.
Multiscreen, Multiscreen game and Upgraded Mobile SDKs are now available along with the upgraded version of the Samsung Mobile SDK 1.5 with the motion-detection function, multi-screen functions and finger scanning tech for developing apps that can simultaneously operate on mobile devices and TV sets.
Furthermore, an SDK for the Gear 2 based on the open source Tizen platform has also been released. Basically, if you're interested in the Gear SDK, you be able to access Motion APIs, Sensor APIs, IrLed APIs, context-related APIs like browser history and Camera APIs. A development kit for the Gear Fit is also available for use by Samsung developers highlighting the potential for wearable apps development.
The released SDK ties with the announcement of the S Health 3.0 Platform, which, according to Samsung executive is designed to "establish an ecosystem which will ultimately provide users with an integrated and more comprehensive view of their well-being."
According to the Samsung executive, health tracking and monitoring is an important aspect of the mobile technology as cited in a survey that suggested that 32 per cent of mobile users use fitness apps, 31 per cent of tablet users search for health-related information and 25 per cent of smartphone users exercise, track health and dieting using their devices.
"Samsung will continue to provide more comprehensive SDKs for our mobile devices and maintain collaborative relationships with development partners to present unique and unprecedented content and services to our customers," Hong added.
