The Samsung Galaxy S5 is among the most anticipated flagship smartphones this year. As previously announced at the Mobile World Congress 2014, the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date will be on April 11 and the four largest carriers in Australia confirmed that they will be offering the latest Samsung smartphone on their networks. Australian carriers are now open for pre-oders for the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Despite the previous rumours saying that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be offered by the Korean tech giant at alower price than the Galaxy S4, it appears that this will not be the case as indicated by pre-order indicators.
Mobicity offers the Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-order for $899.95 plus delivery for the 16GB model in Charcoal Black, Electric Blue and Shimmery White but the availability of the Copper Gold is not guaranteed. Similar to the iPhone 5s, the Gold might be the colour of choice by many when the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date comes. Mobicity is expected to be ready to ship the Samsung Galaxy S5 in April 11.
Meanwhile, other Australian importers namely, Kogan, Dmavo, Millennius and Techrific have not listed the Samsung Galaxy S5 on their Web sites just yet.
Another option to get the Samsung Galaxy S5 is to import your own phone however it must be noted that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 had region locking built-in, which could also be seen in the Samsung Galaxy S5. As such, if you really wish to import your own handset, it is prudent to remember the $1000 GST Free threshold when you are ordering outside of Australia.
