Samsung Galaxy S3 And Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update Coming In End Of March

Android 4.4.2 KitKat update started rolling out for the Galaxy Note 3. Judging by the recent test build leaks, Galaxy S4 KitKat update is just around the corner. The question now is how about the Samsung 2012 flagship devices? When will Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 receive the much anticipated Android candy bar? According to a Samsung leakster, the Korean tech giant will begin rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat update for Galaxy S3 and  Galaxy Note 2 by the end of March.

Android Geek got in touch with a Samsung insider who confirmed Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will both be updated to the Android 4.4 KitKat "in late Q1 2014, soon after Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 is rolled out." It was further reported UI changes will be minor and there will be no new software features to be included.

The update should begin before March ends but it is best to take this rumor with a bit of scepticism. But then again, seeing how fast the Korean tech giant update Galaxy Note 3 to the Android 4.4 KitKat software, there is a big chance that Samsung will also move as fast with its other devices.

Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update will roll out in phases, which mean all users will have the update right away. For instance, U.S. carriers are known to receive software updates at least a month before the international release so do not check for updates yet.

Once the roll out starts, it will take some time before all users get the update, especially for those sporting carrier variants. What is certain is that Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 owners can taste the KitKat candy bar goodies, like the new printing feature in settings, transparent status bar, full-screen immerse mode, reduced memory usage, faster performance with higher benchmark scores, tighter control over location services, new fonts, the ability choose default messaging app and improved keyboard with additional emojis.
