The younger sister of Kate Middleton, Pippa, may have thought she has started a career in writing, but book sales and reviews say otherwise.
According to reports, Pippa Middleton's book, Celebrate, is not selling as hot as many had expected. Amazon has already dropped the price from £25 to £12 (over half the price), but sales continue to get sour as it only stayed at the 177th spot in the website's best-selling book list.
The book is not doing so well in the United States either. It is reportedly at number 303 in the list, and has been receiving quite the negative feedback from critics because of Pippa's obvious party tips that are considered stock knowledge to everyone. These kinds of statements Pippa wrote include "turkeys are perfect for feeding large gatherings" and "everyone likes to throw great parties."
It was said that Pippa has already received a £400,000 advance from her publisher, Penguin, making the younger Middleton sit pretty despite the disappointing book selling issue. In some parts of the book, Pippa has disclosed what she thinks about being under the shadows of Kate, her famous older sister.
"It is a bit startling to achieve global recognition before the age of 30 on account of your sister, your brother-in-law and your bottom. One day I might be able to make sense of this. In the meantime I think it's fair to say that it has its upside and its downside." wrote Pippa in her book.
When asked about what she thought of the past year since her life became public, Pippa talked to a British tabloid, The Independent, and said she is somehow thankful that she is able to build a career.
"It has been a crazy couple of years since my sister's wedding but it's had its upsides and downsides. I just feel really fortunate to be able to build a career as a writer." said Pippa.
