"Harry and Niall like to get personal with the fans, but it's hard to talk one-on-one with them without being cyber-mobbed," a source told The Daily Star.

"So in the last few months they've started using pseudonyms to befriend their fans on Twitter. They have no idea the strangers they're talking to are actually their idols. The boys change their names every few weeks to prevent being rumbled," added the source.

The boys simply wanted to find out what the fans liked during their gigs. Apart from that, stalking their fans online also made it easy to find out the One Direction's do's and don'ts.  It also provided an easy access to know the latest rumors circulating around the web about the boys.

He loves finding out what the fans really think,'' explains the source further.
