Nicki Minaj became completely breathless when she got a call from pop star Beyonce Knowles who told her she wanted to do "Flawless" remix with her. The 31-year-old revealed in her recent interview that Queen Bey called her to do the remix much before Beyonce and Jay Z's "On the Run" concert kicked off and she wanted Nicki to "be herself" on that song.
"A month or two ago, Gee [Roberson] called me when I was on my way to Vegas and said, 'Beyoncé wants you to remix to 'Flawless.'' After I got proper medical help and started breathing again, I was like, 'What?'" the "Anaconda" star revealed to Hot 97 radio on Monday. Check out her interview below in the video.
"She sent me a version that she wanted. She told me, 'I want you to be you. I don't want you to hold back." I said, 'You sure?' She said, 'Yeah. I want you to be you and do you," Nicki revealed further adding that she was in New York when she wrote and recorded the verse. Beyonce herself stopped by and encouraged her while recording it in the studio.
Nicki called Beyonce "such a sweetheart" who encouraged her to "do her thing" and "don't hold back." Nicki also shared various pictures of herself with Beyonce to make the cover art of the single which features a collage of both the singers in various moods. Check out the collage here.
The rapper revealed that she has earlier remixed Beyonce's songs with Lil Wayne and was secretly nursing the desire to do a remix with Queen Bey ever since she remixed "Sweet Dreams." However she was on the edge of losing her hope when Beyonce did not call her for a long time.
"Recently I thought it would never happen 'cause I felt like if she was going to ask me, she would have asked," Nicki revealed in the interview. The artist has been in news because of nearly nude art cover of her new single "Anaconda." Read more about it here.
Nicki also released a sexy video teaser for her song "Anaconda" where she is seen twerking with other dancers. Check it out here.
