The royal tour of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge of New Zealand will bring many benefits to the country. The New Zealand government said the royal couple's visit is good for the island nation.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to begin their nine-day tour of New Zealand. The government has promised that the money used will be going back to the economy as the royal tour highlights the country's business and tourism industry.
The government expects around 130 members of international media to arrive in New Zealand to cover the royal couple's visit. Businesses in New Zealand will have the opportunity to advertise their brands and get people around the world to notice them, according to Tourism New Zealand Chief Executive Kevin Bowler.
Mr Bowler said New Zealand has the chance to take advantage of international media coverage which the industry cannot afford by itself. Several brands in New Zealand have already expressed their interest in the opportunity with local designers looking forward to have their clothes worn by the Duchess of Cambridge.
Dr Mike Lee, Senior Marketing Lecturer at Auckland University, said New Zealand businesses that will be involved in the royal tour will "have a lot to gain." Dr Lee said if local brands are picked for the tour, it means they are one of the top in the country or they have national importance.
The royal couple's visit will put the spotlight on New Zealand as a tourist destination. The plane carrying Prince George and his parents have already landed in Australia. They switched planes for their journey to New Zealand. The royal party arrived in Sydney on April 6 in a scheduled Qantas service aircraft via Dubai.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took turns carrying Prince George as they waited to board the Royal New Zealand Air Force plane. According to local reports, the eight-month-old George looked energetic and happy as his mother carried him.
