Is Miley Cyrus really dead? Fans of "Adore" singer totally freaked out when another viral death hoax claiming "Miley Cyrus is dead" hit the web. The death hoax originated from a viral Facebook scam.

According to The Epoch Times, a viral Facebook link claims that "Miley Cyrus died in her Los Angeles home due to an overdose." The report notes that the link is "fake."

The link that fuelled the death rumours was backed by brief account of 23-year-old singer star's death. The description only provided the reason of her death.

Account of Miley Cyrus' death on Facebook page reads:

"{SHOCKING) Miley Cyrus Found Dead in Her Los Angeles Home! Country singer Miley Cyrus found overdosed this afternoon in her Los Angeles home."

According to the report, the fake viral link that led to the spread of hoax has been "designed to spread bogus surveys." These fake surveys help these scammers in making big money.

The Web site notes that these scammers usually post links with appealing headlines that compel social media users to click on the post to find further details. Upon clicking the link, the user is reportedly taken to "a Web site designed to look like Facebook." Before the user can move forward, the Web site urges them to share the page.

Miley Cyrus Death Hoax Debunked

Miley Cyrus' viral death hoax did make her fans worry. According to Hollywood Life report, adding fuel to the death rumour was the fact that "The Wrecking Ball" singer hasn't been quite active on social media. This left songstress' fans wondering about her whereabouts. Meanwhile, the Web site took onus of finding the truth. They reportedly contacted Miley Cyrus' rep.

The Web site speculates that since her "Bangerz" tour is on a break until Aug.1, the singer star may actually be "resting up" before she hits the stage again.

Another report by Hollywood Life assures that "Miley is alive and well." The report also reveals Miley's reaction to the rumour. Miley Cyrus thinks that this viral death hoax is "pretty funny." A source revealed to the Web site that Miley Cyrus is "just laying low." At the moment, she is "hanging out with her new dog and just relaxing."

"She is aware of the death hoax and thought it was actually pretty funny. By not responding, she thinks it is that much more of a joke because people are continuing to believe it," revealed the source.

As per the report, Miley Cyrus thinks that this viral death hoax has given her a "Paul [McCartney] is dead Beatles moment."

 Besides Miley, many other big celebrities have been declared dead by the internet. Some of the recent viral celebrity death hoax included the names of stars like "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam, "The Walking Dead" actor Andrew Lincoln, Hollywood actors Sylvester Stallone, Dwayne Johnson and many more.
