Mel. B Puts Girl Power in America’s Got Talent as Judge

As one-fifth of one of the most successful girl bands, ever, Melanie Brown is a logical choice to judge potential superstars.

"Scary Spice" will join the newest season of America's Got Talent, alongside fellow judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel. She will replace female judge Sharon Osbourne who announced her departure from the show after her son Jack was dropped from NBC's other show Stars Earn Stripes.

"I've known Melanie since she did Dancing with the Stars, and I've known her as a performer in The Spice Girls before that," NBC's president of alternative and late-night programming Paul Telegdy said in an official statement to EW. "To know her is to know a very frank, strong, enduring entertainer. Someone who has a very strong point of view. We needed somebody who was qualified for the job. She's an amazing singer, dancer and a huge personality. The contestants will get a lot of constructive feedback from her and I can't wait to see her chemistry with Howard and Howie."

America's Got Talent, a consistently high-rating show, will put the Spice Girl back on the map, after their wild success in the 90s.

In her own statement, Brown expressed her excitement for the show saying, "It's so exciting to be bringing some Girl Power to the panel!"

There is no trace of hesitation or doubt in Brown, probably because the beauty has had considerable experience in the reality show circuit. Not only was she part of the judging panel of the X-Factor Australia, but she also competed on Dancing with the Stars.

Reports from EW say the hit show is currently considering hiring another judge to round off the panel. Still, Telegdy said nothing is set in stone. "The right person has to show their hand."
