Fans know that when they last saw it, S.H.I.E.L.D. was shattered and Phil Coulson and his agents must rebuild it. Where do things go from here? How will Phil Coulson, director of S.H.I.E.L.D. turn things around and meet the challenge?

Actor Clark Gregg spoke to IGN about "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 2. Here is what he has to say about it.

Following all the tumultuous events that Phil Coulson underwent in the past, he will emerge as a "very different Coulson than the guy everyone knew," revealed the actor while speaking to the publication.

"A lot of people who knew him in the old days say, 'He's different.' I think you would have to be different having gone through that stuff," Gregg elaborated on his character's role in the second installment.

According to him, Phil Coulson is "reinventing and re-understanding himself as a person." This, he explains, is an important process so that he can adapt to the "new environment and figure out what S.H.I.E.L.D. ought to be..."

As for the show's storyline, the actor says "so we go from having no SHIELD at all, with a director on the run, to a tiny Guerrilla SHIELD with Agent Coulson at its head, and maybe not in his own right head."

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 2 is expected to return with 22 episodes, split into two parts. Besides Clark Gregg, the show is speculated to bring back series' several original characters and some new characters. "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 2 returns fall 2014 on ABC.
