Lorde has listened to her parents and postponed her Australian tour dates. The Kiwi singer had six live shows scheduled to start on Thursday, but she was forced to postpone them due to a “nasty” chest infection.

Frontier Touring announced that under doctor’s advice, Lorde will return to New Zealand to rest and recuperate rather than start her tour in Melbourne on April 24. http://www.frontiertouring.com/lorde

“It breaks my heart to have to postpone these shows as the band and I absolutely love playing to Australian crowds, and it was not a decision we made lightly. I know I need to focus on getting better in order to perform at my best. We’ll be with you as soon as we can, Aussie,” the singer, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor, said.

In a series of tweets she posted on Tuesday, the 17-year-old Grammy winner further explained why she had to reschedule her tour, saying she needs to “get back to full Gollum girl fitness” before she can perform.

Her tour included shows in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Sydney, Newcastle, and Brisbane.

Meanwhile, the “Royals” star has booked an appearance at the Austin City Limits festival in the U.S. in October. She is scheduled to play during the second weekend of the festival from October 10 to 12.
