Liverpool legend Phil Thompson revealed that FC Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez is on his way to Merseyside this summer, as he was able to gather insider information from reliable sources.
"Just yesterday I heard things from people, newspaper guys who are very close to the ground at Liverpool, saying that the Sanchez deal was actually done," the 60-year-old former centre-back told Metro.
The Chilean international, who has helped his national side advance to the knockout stages in the ongoing World Cup, was able to tally 21 goals and 17 assists in all competitions for the Blaugrana during the 2013/14 season and is looking for a club that could give him the opportunity to play at will.
It is suggested that the recent change in manager at the Nou Camp could have led the 25-year-old to move elsewhere because his first-team participation is nothing close to assured.
Meanwhile, Sanchez will need to bring his "A game" with him as Chile will be facing the mighty Brazil in the round-of-sixteen on Saturday.
