LG G3 'Mini’ Under Development; 4.7-Inches Display, 8 MP Camera, Optimus UI

On Tuesday, LG announced its improved first quarter results, which also saw the company confirming the name of the upcoming flagship smartphone LG G3, which will be launched this May. It is worth noting that, the company announced a 319 percentage increase in the first quarter net profit compared to the same period last year. However, recently the reports about a compact version of the upcoming next-generation, high-end smartphone LG G3 surfaced, which is dubbed as LG G3 Mini.

According to PhoneArena, "the compact smartphone is codenamed 'B2 Mini' has appeared in leaked documents, and given that the expected LG G3 is referred to as the B2, chances are this is our first encounter with the LG G3 Mini."

A couple of months after launching LG G2, at MWC 2014 in February, LG's compact G2 Mini was unveiled but this time around, the Mini version of the high-end LG G3 is already in the development phase.

According to My LG Cell Phones, the leaked documents from LG show a device under the name "B2MINI" which holds a model number of LG-D725. The unannounced B2 MINI device is listed for each of the four major U.S. mobile network carriers i.e. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.

Although the flagship LG G3 is marked for all the major carriers, G3 Mini is only marked for AT&T.

Limited Specifications

According to the leaked information, the LG G3 mini will come with a 4.7 inches screen, 720 x 1,280 pixels resolution along with a pixel density of 312 ppi and an 8 MP rear facing camera. The image resolution from the camera will be up to 3264 × 2248 pixels. The LG G3 Mini will be running on Android v4.4.2 KitKat with LG's Optimus UI on top. The phone will also support Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB2.0 and microUSB.

So far there are no images of the actual smartphone that have been leaked and not many information on the features are available to public. Now that LG G3 flagship model is official, we can expect the announcement of its compact version shortly.

According to PhoneArena, the high-end LG G3 is expected to arrive on all four major US mobile network carriers - AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint, with model numbers LG D850, VS985 4G, LG D851 and LG LS 990, respectively.
