Lorde and NBA player Steven Adams have shared a delightful chance meeting in Chicago. The two young Kiwis have been seen together after the Grammy Award-winning teen’s concert in Chicago on Tuesday.

20-year-old Adams, who plays centre for the Oklahoma City Thunder, admitted that he was nervous in meeting his fellow New Zealand native after attending her concert. His teammates, including Kevin Durant, were even teasing him about his wish to meet Lorde.

But meet her, he did. The Rotorua-born baller even got to hang out with Lorde after her concert in Chicago. They met a night earlier at his team’s game against the Chicago Bulls.

“She’s real cool, just a chilled-out chick,” he told The Oklahoman.

“She was going through what I was going through, it being weird meeting people who’ve got a name but you don’t actually know about them. Then you have a chat and you’re like, ‘Oh that’s (such and such).”

He then had the opportunity to hang out with the singer and her band for a short while.

“The drummer and the piano guy are funny. They’re cool,” he said.

And while both he and Lorde are two of the most successful young Kiwis abroad, Adams didn’t think he measured up with her.

“I think so. I’m not sure. I don’t even check up on that stuff,” he said of his achievements.

“She definitely is. She’s the number one superstar.”

For her part, Lorde also posted on Twitter, wishing Adams good luck.
