Japan Shaken Anew by 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake, No Tsunami Warning Released

Japan has been shaken anew by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake, located in Kuril Islands off the country's northern part.

Recorded with a depth of 10km, the earthquake was felt in Hokkaido and much of Japan's northern islands, and even in Tokyo. The epicentre is about 1,500 kilometres northeast of Tokyo.

"We have received no reports of damage so far," a spokesman at the Hokkaido police said. No reports so far have been received of any casualties.  

No tsunami warning was issued, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

Just on Wednesday, Japan experienced a series of earthquakes, including one with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2, off the Miyake island, about 180 km (111 miles) south of Tokyo.
