iPhone 6 Will Cost $100 More on Release Date – Analyst Claims

The iPhone 6 release date will be a big deal this year, according to a famous analyst, adding that the Cupertino tech giant will charge more for it than its current flagship smartphone, the iPhone 5s.

The next flagship smartphone of Apple is groomed to "outperform" - an improvement over "sector perform," according to Andy Hargreaves at the Pacific Crest via Business Insider. He further said that the iPhone 6 will be $100 more than the usual at round $635.

Apple will release a 4.7 inches version of the iPhone 6 in the fall, which is fairly consistent with the previous rumours and reports. In the past, Apple has released its iPhones during the fall however, other rumours say that the iPhone 6 release date can be as early as May or June.

According to Hargreaves, Apple consumers are relatively wealthy and they are willing to spend extra money to get an upgrade and a larger phone. In fact, last year, the iPhone 5s sales did better than the iPhone 5c even though the latter is $100 cheaper.

"While many observers have chided Apple for a 'lack of innovation' over the last two years, we do not expect a linear path to commercially successful new product categories," Hargreaves said via Business Insider.

"Instead, Apple is likely to choose its opportunities and timing extraordinarily carefully and release new products or services only when it feels it has the best chance to succeed, which does not mean it is not innovative, just that it is not dumb."

Meanwhile, Hargreaves predicted that there will only be a 4.7 inches model of the iPhone 6 and there will be no larger variant, contrary to rumours.

"The external design will take numerous cues from the company's mid-range iPhone 5c, as well as its seventh-generation iPod nano," Apple Insider reported.

"The new models are apparently a cross between the design of the iPhone 5c and the seventh-generation iPod nano. According to the source, the new, larger iPhone won't be a replacement for the existing iPhone 5c, but will be akin to a higher-end model," the report further reads.
