iPad mini 2 and Nexus 7.7 could hit the gadget stores this year, if persisting rumours prove true. One is an Apple, the other is from Google. iPad mini 2, IGZO technology

iPad mini 2 is expected to have a more robust system under the hood. It will reportedly boast of a new A7 processor and a screen that could be better than Retina Display.

iPad mini 2 screen display could be powered by Sharp's thin-but-tough IGZO technology. The current iPad mini displays a pixel density of only 163 pixels per inch. In contrast, Nexus 7 displays 216 ppi. Information bits from analysts indicate the IGZO on iPad mini 2 could render a pixel density of 330 ppi, even better than the 264 ppi of the iPad 4th generation.

For e-book readers, photo enthusiasts, and users keen on delightful visuals, the quality of screen display is one of the most important factors to consider before upgrading their device. It looks like the rumoured Apple-Sharp collaboration for iPad mini 2 will delight them.

In an earlier report by macworld.com.au, Jefferies analyst Peter Misek said the new iPad mini could be unveiled in June.

Nexus 7.7, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie

Nexus 7.7 is reportedly how Google would call its Nexus 7 successor. Rumours say Google will partner with LG for this device. (The current Nexus 7 is made by Asus.) The new small Android tablet will reportedly boast of a larger 7.7-inch WUXGA display (1920x1200, 294 PPI). Under its hood, the combination of NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor, 2GB RAM and internal storage options of 8/16GB will entice buyers. It is believed the Nexus 7.7 will run on Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.

Nexus 7 price starts at only $199, while iPad mini starts at $329. The Nexus 7.7 price tag is expected to start at $299 for the 8GB device. Apple, meanwhile, is reportedly going to be less expensive in its pricing this year. It remains to be seen.
