“The Inbetweeners” stars laughed at how the boys of One Direction dance. James Buckley, Joe Thomas, Simon Bird and Blake Harrison not only mocked the British boy band’s singers, but also dissed Canadian tween heartthrob Justin Bieber.
In a move that would surely fire up the Directioners (One Direction’s fans) and the Beliebers (Bieber’s followers), the actors have unleashed a few things about the young crooners.
1D paid homage to the Blake’s signature moves in the TV series in their music video “Best Song Ever,” but for the actors, the singers’ dance skills weren’t as good as theirs.
James, 26, said, perhaps jokingly, that 1D’s moves were so dodgy that they “made us look good.”
Nevertheless, he was happy that the band – composed of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles – are fans of the sitcom, adding to the Daily Star, “They’d be ideal Inbetweeners.”
Although “The “Inbetweeners” stars weren’t so sure about 1D’s moves, the boys were fine in their book, unlike Bieber, who was James’ least favourite celebrity.
“I’m sorry, but he’s a knob,” the 26-year-old actor, who plays Jay Cartwright in the series and its films, said simply.
The actors attended the premiere of “The Inbetweeners 2,” the sequel of their highly successful comedy flick in 2011.
Parts of the film were shot in Australia, that’s why James was wary of insulting Aussies when he admitted he isn’t a fan of Nickelback.
“I just hate their music. I hope they aren’t an Australian band, otherwise this would be awkward. ‘Yeah, thanks for letting us borrow your country for a film but your music is s---!’”
Fortunately for him, he didn’t insult Aussies because Nickelback is a Canadian rock band originating from Alberta.
“The Inbetweeners” was a British sitcom that ran from 2008 to 2010. It followed a group of friends who were outside the popular high school crowd.
“The Inbetweeners Movie,” based on the defunct series, was released in 2011, with the sequel released on August 6 in the UK and Ireland.
