Ian Somerhalder on Twitter: 'Vampire Diaries' Actor Reveals How He Celebrates End of Filming for the TV Series Season 5 Finale

"The Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder announced to his millions of followers on Twitter that Season 5 has wrapped up and revealed how he celebrated the end of hard work in filming for the successful CW TV series. Ian, 35, shared an Instagram image of himself taking a nap on a sofa below the poster of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5.

Ian Somerhalder may be tired and sleepless from the hectic filming scheduled of TVD in Atlanta but the message on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder excitedly expressed gratitude to the TVD crew and fans for supporting Season 5. Click HERE to see Ian Somerhalder's shared Instagram photo.

According to the Wet Paint report, Ian took a nap on his dressing room couch with "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 poster hanging on the wall. The poster featured a Roman statue in front of Whitmore College, the school that became an integral part in the CW TV series storyline.

Now that Ian Somerhalder takes a break from being vampire Damon Salvatore, sleep appears to be an important thing in the actor's to-do list before filming for the brand new season of "The Vampire Diaries" kicks off. Aside from taking a nap, what else will Ian Somerhalder be doing during his free time?

It appears traveling the world is also on the heartthrob actor's list. Mr Somerhalder recently teased his fans on Twitter that while he is taking a break from being Damon Salvatore, he will be exploring the world before getting back into character again for the brand new Season 6.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 has already given the viewers a couple of shocking twist and turns but more is expected to happen before the current season ends as it enters another series plot with Season 6. According to the Breathe Cast report, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 is expected to kick off in September or October 2014.

Currently, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 is on a hiatus but the TV series will resume airing on Thursday night, April 17, at 8 pm ET on the CW Network with Episode 18 titled "Resident Evil." As for the Season 5 finale, the Breathe Cast report further noted that the season finale episode is scheduled to air on May 15, 2014.
