The host nation of Brazil will be pleased to advance to the knockout stage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. They opened the competition with a 3-1 win over Croatia but cut their momentum short managing only a draw against Mexico in their second game leaving the group still open in the final round of matches. A convincing win over Cameroon in their final match sealed the deal for the Selecao. THey are on track to a dream World Cup win at home with the first hurdle behind them. The pressure is great for the home team to deliver the goods in front of a rabidly passionate home crowd.

Mexico came in to take the second available spot for group A without dropping a single match. They fought valiantly against Brazil to hold the favourites to a draw which pushed the competition up to the last match. They ended level with Brazil on poiints and landed second on goal difference.
