Toronto Mayor Rob Ford walks by a screen displaying budget numbers during a Capital and Operating Budgets meeting at City Hall in Toronto, January 22, 2014.
Canadian Politician Rob Ford, whose middle name is "controversy," has shown his support for Justin Bieber, another controversial child of the country.
Ford talked to Sports Junkies, a radio show based in Washington D.C. He was asked about Bieber when he was interviewed over the phone for the show. He seemed offended when the hosts called Bieber the worst export of Canada. He asked them to recollect what they had done at Bieber's age. He said the teen sensation is "only 19."
The Toronto mayor has had his fair share of controversies as he often managed to stay in the headlines for smoking pot and abusing people among others. He admitted he had not met Bieber yet. He also revealed Bieber, as a singer, did not impress him much as he was more into Led Zeppelin and Rush.
Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach Jan. 23 for the suspicion of driving under the influence of toxic substance. According to the latest toxicology report, it has been proved Bieber was under the influence of alprazolam and THC while he was driving. He surrendered Jan. 29 after being charged for assaulting a Toronto limousine driver.
Bieber was apparently going make rounds at court for the next couple of months. He is expected to appear in court for the DUI case on the Valentine's Day, Feb. 14. He may not have planned the day but his wanton activities proved otherwise. The other case where he allegedly assaulted the drive should get him appear in court on March 10. In both cases, Bieber's advocate maintained the stance that he was innocent.
Ford was asked regarding the lawsuit he had been facing against. According to the former boyfriend of his sister, he conspired against him to get him attacked inside jail to stop people from getting acquainted about his illicit behaviors.
The mayor refused to comment on the issue since the case was under legal jurisdiction at the moment, Montreal Gazette reported.
He admitted he was not a Bieber fan but he did wish he could be "as successful as he was."
