Australian Invasion At The Recent 2012 Sundance [PHOTOS]

The 2012 Sundance Film Festival was definitely at its highest this year especially when it comes to the Australian filmmakers and of course the actors and actresses.

Numerous known and upcoming celebrities have traveled straight to Utah just to be able to promote the indie movies they are a part of. The common faces seen with such film genres that were spotted early on in the festival were the likings of Kirsten Dunst, Elizabeth Olsen and Will Ferrell amongst many others.

The stability of the filmmaking industry of Australia has certainly leveled up its esteem especially in the genre of drama during this film festival. One of the most highlighted entries was the psychological film feature of Kieran Darcy Smith from Sydney entitled, 'Wish You Were Here.'

It starred premiere Aussie stars who also made it big in the Hollywood scene, such as Teresa Palmer and Joel Edgerton, and was well received by a jampacked audience. The movie was done in South East Asia and follows the story of Australians who took a Cambodian holiday until one of them starts missing.

Joel Edgerton's own brother, Nash, had his work, 'Bear' selected under the short film category of the festival. The founder of the Sundance Festival, Robert Redford, was present during the event to render the opening remarks with an inspiring note that gives emphasis and value to the work of the filmmakers and the message that they want to share to the world.

Other Aussies spotted during the event include Ryan Kwanten, Isla Fisher and Rebel Wilson. This can definitely mean a good 2012 for the Aussies hitting the international film scene.
