The 92-year-old actress Betty White recently became the victim to a death hoax which got her fans riled up. A satirical article on Empire News led to rumours that the world has lost one of the legendary artists of her time.

"Actress Betty White, 92, Dyes Peacefully In Her Los Angeles Home," read the article headline.

The fans of the actress mistook the word "dyed" for "died" and twitter went ablaze with the condolence messages and reactions to the cleverly worded headline.

Here are some reactions:

Interestingly the article, which was mistaken for a death hoax was about Betty White's hair dying job and how she is not a natural blonde.

Apparently, the fans who understood the wordplay did not read the article further. However, such news items not only disturb the fans but also the near and dear ones of the involved celebrity.

White is best known for her role in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "The Golden Girls," and "Hot in Cleveland." The actress has been conferred with the Guinness World Record for having the longest television career as a female entertainer.  White has won six Emmy's till date and has more than 23 Emmy nominations to her credit. She has been an inspiration for many female artists who want to have creative freedom in the front as well as behind the camera.

White's rep has confirmed in an official statement that the actress is currently shooting for the upcoming episode of "Hot in Cleveland," and is alive and kicking.
