The unannounced Motorola Moto G's successor, the Moto G2 (aka Moto G+1) will be introduced by the company in a special event scheduled for Sept. 4. On the other hand, the upcoming Sony Xperia C3 (aka world's best selfie smartphone) was launched in July. The affordably-priced Xperia C3 will hit the store shelves in the third quarter of 2014. Sponsors Adidas, Sony, Visa and Coca-Cola on June 8, 2014 called on soccer's rulers to deal thoroughly with allegations of bribery to secure the 2022 World Cup for Qatar, an issue overshadowing this week's kickoff in Brazil.
The Sony Xperia C3 comes with a phablet-like 5.5-inch IPS LCD display along with 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution and 267 ppi pixel density. The Moto G2, meanwhile, will reportedly feature a 5.0-Inch display but the screen resolution is same as the Xperia device.
When it comes to the exterior, the Xperia C3 features Triluminos display technology that is synonymous to high-end Sony handsets and mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. This combination provides the mid-range Xperia C3 handset with better colour and image reproduction. Although there is no information available on the exterior design of the Moto G2, going by the leaked images, the handset will come with narrow bezels when compared to its predecessor Moto G. Under The Hood
Interestingly, both the handsets are powered by the same quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. In addition, both the handsets are backed by the same 1 GB of RAM.
The Xperia C3 runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS, whereas the Moto G2 is expected to run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS out of the box. Furthermore, the Sony handset comes with 8 GB of internal storage, while the Moto G2 will reportedly come equipped with 8 GB and 16 GB of in-built storage capacity. Both the phones support microSD card for expansion. It is worth noting that, the predecessor (2013 Moto G) does not come with expandable memory option. However, the Moto G 4G released in 2014 comes with microSD card slot.
Camera And Battery
The Moto G2 will sport an 8 MP rear-facing camera unit with LED flash in addition to a 2 MP secondary snapper. The Sony Xperia C3, on the other hand, houses the same 8 MP primary camera unit with LED flash; however the secondary camera unit stands out with a 5 MP shooter. Interestingly, the Sony smartphone comes with a unique frontal LED flash, staying true to the name "world's best selfie smartphone."
Along with the frontal LED flash, the Xperia C3 also provides an 80 degree target view. Moreover, selfies can be taken in multiple ways. A Smile Shutter function lets the selfie to be captured with just a smile and the other way is to tap twice on the back of the handset.
When it comes to the battery, the Xperia C3 houses a solid Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery unit, but there is no information available on the Moto G2 specification at this point. However, the original Moto G comes with a non-removable Li-Ion 2070 mAh battery unit.
1. Both the handsets support micro-SIM type and dual-SIM mode.
2. Similar to other Moto devices, the Moto G2 will also feature the much-loved replaceable rear panel via Motorola Moto Maker site.
3. Apart from the standard connectivity options, the Xperia C3 supports NFC. Nevertheless, there is no information available on the Moto G2 in this regard.
The Sony Xperia C3 is priced at 1,999 Chinese Yuan that roughly translates to US$323, AU$348 and €241. The expected price range of the Moto G2 is £200 that roughly translates to US$331 and AU$355, according to Tech Radar.
