South Korea joined FIBA in 1955 and currently ranked 31 under coach Yoo Jae-Hak. The South Korea national team appeared six times in Olympics games but team was unable to secure medals yet.

Coach Yoo Jae-Hak disclosed the twelve man roster for the upcoming 2014 FIBA World Championships to be held from August 30 to September 14 in Spain.

Guards - Yang Dong-Geun (Ulsan Mobis Phoebus), Park Chan-Hee (Anyang KGC), Kim Sun-Hyung (Seoul SK Knights), Kim Tae-Sol (Jeonju KCC Egis)

Wings - Cho Sung-Min (Busan Sonicboom KT), Heo Il-Young (Goyang Orions)
Moon Tae-Jong (Changwon LG Sakers), Yang Hee-Jong (Anyang KGC)

Post - Lee Jong-Hyun (Korea University), Kim Joo-Sung (Wonju Dongbu Promy), Kim Jong-Kyu (Changwon LG Sakers), Oh Se-Keun (Anyang KGC)

The South Korean roster is veteran laden with the youngest at 20 years old, Lee Jong-Hyun. Thus far, Seung-Jin is still recovering from a hip injury from his pre-workout sessions.

"We were trying to see if Seung-Jin could immediately come back to form, but two years of non-basketball activities and a recent hip injury means we can't bring him up to speed with the team's conditioning," Yoo Jae-Hak said according to a report on Sakerland.

When asked about the team's goal in heading to the 2014 FIBA World Cup, coach Yoo Jae-Hak answered, pressure defence and to run the offense according to what the team has been practicing.

It has been 12 years since South Korea won the last Asian games gold but the 2014 FIBA World Cup came first so, the team will be fighting for Korea, even though its main goal is to reclaim the gold in Incheon.

The South Korea national team is in Group D with Australia, Angola, Mexico, Lithuania and Slovenia.
