The Apple iWatch release date seems to be close at hand. John Paczkowski from Recode has revealed that the Apple iWatch will be unveiled on September 9. It is the very day when Apple is pegged to showcase the 4.7inch iPhone 6 and 5.5inch iPhone 6L.
The Apple logo is pictured at a retail store in the Marina neighborhood in San Francisco, California April 23, 2014.
The new rumour about the iWatch contradicts what Ming-Chi Kuo, the famous tech analyst from KGI Securities, had claimed in the previous week that the launch of wearable technology from Apple will be pushed to 2015 because of production issues.
Even though Apple has not started sending formal invitations for the September 9 event, Recode continues to claim that the iWatch will be introduced on the said date. According to another tech analyst, Piper Jaffray from Gene Munster, the iPhone 6 will come out with a price tag of $350 in October.
Rumours coming from Recode highlight that the much anticipated iWatch would feature HomeKit and HealthKit platforms from Apple. The Home Kit service will allow users to use the smartwatch as a smart home remote control. And the HealthKit service will let users to use the iWatch as a health tracker.
In the past few months, Apple had filed a few patents that made the tech world feel that Apple is working on a wearable tech like a wristwatch or bracelet. One of the patents included 'iTime', a wearable technology for wrist having features like GPS and push notifications. The device is capable of communicating with a mobile device and accepts gestures.
John Paczkowski has been the first one to reveal that Apple is planning a September 9 event for launching the two variants of iPhone 6. However, Apple is yet to confirm on the date. Usually, Apple sends invitations around a week before the event to the media.
Apple Insider claims that Apple may unveil the iWatch on September 9 but the product will be actually launched into the market much later. Speculations have it that Apple may introduce the iWatch next week and then focus on the 2014 shopping season to make the most of it.
As far as features are concerned, apart from the HomeKit and HealthKit services and the A8 processor, nothing much has been known. According to rumours from multiple sources, the wearable tech from Apple would feature a flexible OLED display. Other sources claim that the Cupertino company would make use of sapphire to keep the display free from scratches. Apple iWatch is also rumoured to be available in two variants, for men and women.
