Rory McIlroy became the fourth youngest player to bag four major titles at age 25, with only Tiger Woods, Tom Morris Jr. and Jack Nicklaus completing the feat prior to the Northern Irishman world no. 1.

The 25-year-old also became the fifth player to take home the PGA Championship and the British Open in the same year, following the footsteps of Walter Hagen (1924), Nick Price (1994) Woods (2000, 2006) and Padraig Harrington (2008).

Despite the near-darkness finishing game and downpour which flooded the course, McIlroy carded a closing 68 to finish 16 under par, one shot ahead of Phil Mickelson.

On various levels, McIlroy found his recent victory at the PGA Championship, more satisfying than his commanding wins at this year's British Open, 2012 PGA Championship and 2011 U.S. Open.

"To win it in this fashion and this style, it means a lot. It means that I know that I can do it." the world no. 1 claimed.

Meanwhile, following his victory, McIlroy celebrated his U.S. PGA Championship title by flying off to the Big Apple in a private jet.

The Northern Irishman and his entourage boarded a private jet en route to New York after his weather-affected championship in Valhalla. The four-time major champion tweeted a selfie along the way.

Needless to say, winning four major titles at age 25 is a big deal, not to mention that McIlroy secured his most recent championship in the dark, just moments after sundown.

McIlroy is apparently delighted with his four major titles, claiming in an interview that he personally measures greatness through golf and major titles earned.
