"American Horror Story" Season 4 is roping in a lot of new actors to play key roles in "Freak Show." The latest actor to join the cast is Patti LaBelle.

LaBelle has signed on to play the mother of Gabourey Sidibe's character in "American Horror Story-Freak Show," according to TV Line. The report reveals that the actress will not be singing in the show. It describes the character as a "local townsperson who begins to unravel the murderous secrets of Twisty the clown killer." It is not a series regular role. TV Line reports that the actress will appear in just four episodes of "American Horror Story" Season 4.

Ryan Murphy, co-creator of the show, has said to Vulture that the clown killer will be the "most terrifying clown, ever."

Just after "American Horror Story-Coven" wrapped-up, it was announced that veteran actor Michael Chiklis is joining Season 4 to play an important role. He is playing the ex-husband of Kathy Bates' character and father of Evan Peters' character. In the show, Chiklis is married to Angela Basset's character.

At the Comic-Con, John Carroll Lynch was introduced as the actor who will play the villain in Season 4.  This villain is going to "scare the s**t out of you," Tim Minear, executive producer of "American Horror Story," said as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.

Meanwhile, Murphy took to Twitter to announce that Finn Wittrock has joined the cast of "Freak Show." In July, TV Line reported that Wes Bentley has been roped-in to play "Eddie, a dark tormentor from Kathy Bates' past who is hell-bent on revenge." The character of Eddie will be seen in two-part Halloween episode.

In addition to these four new actors, the old cast of "American Horror Story" will return to portray new roles in Season 4, "Freak Show." Jessica Lange, who has played important roles in all the three seasons of the show, will be making her final appearance in this FX's horror anthology.

The Season 4 production is currently underway in New Orleans. "American Horror Story-Freak Show" is expected to premiere in October 2014.
