Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Moto X: Update Schedule, Change Logs and Network Carriers

Moto X is now receiving the official Android 4.4.4 KitKat in the United States via Verizon Wireless. AT&T begins soak testing for the latest firmware update while Sprint released Android 4.4.3 with Android 4.4.4 security fixes.

Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Moto X

Users of Moto X can now update the device to the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware version from network carriers in the United States. Sprint released Android 4.4.3 KitKat but includes the latest security fixes found on Android 4.4.4 while Verizon Wireless rolled out Android 4.4.4 version to all Moto X customers.

Official change logs from Sprint via Android Police:

-          Android 4.4.3 KitKat which includes several stability, framework and security fixes in addition to accuracy improvements to the power profile.

-          Camera image quality improvements including better consistency of exposure, more realistic flash colouring and improved photos in low light conditions using the front camera.

-          Pause and resume video recording button on the camera viewfinder.

-          Updated version of the Dialler app with new graphical layout and colours to improve consistency and usability.

Official change logs from Verizon Wireless:

-          Improved camera picture quality including improved photos in fluorescent lighting and enhanced dynamic range.

-          Pause and resume video recording button on the camera viewfinder.

-          New graphical layout and colours for the Dialler app to improve consistency and usability.

According to reports from Android Geeks, Motorola will begin the official soak test of the Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware for AT&T Moto X variant. Users are allowed to enrol and participate on the soak test and provide comprehensive feedback to aid Motorola on the development of the final build expected to be released soon.

Like all the others, AT&T Moto X users are expected to receive improvements and enhancements from Android 4.4.4 KitKat such as security fixes, camera updates and new Dialler application.

Future Updates

Moto X has been confirmed to receive Android L firmware update as soon as it is ready for rollout according to the Vice President of Product Management at Motorola. Motorola VP Punit Soni sent out the confirmation via Google+ after the user handler Josh B asked regarding the future of Moto X.

A simply reply of "Yup" from Punit Soni confirmed the Android L update. Moto X is eligible to Android L since it was released in August 2013 and a year old this month. Standard software support for Android devices are entitled within 18 months of release followed my manufacturers.
