Irina Shayk on Nabbing Hercules: The Thracian Wars Role: ‘It’s a Dream Come True’

Russian supermodel Irina Shayk starred opposite of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the upcoming adventure fantasy flick "Hercules: The Thracian Wars." She played the role of Megara, the wife of the legendary hero. As the movie hits the theatres in the U.S. on July 25, the incontestably gorgeous and eye-catching brunette admits that the role in the movie is a "dream come true."

Irina said in an exclusive interview with Moviefone that she never thought that she would snag a role in such a big movie. "I never dreamed, you know, to be in part of a big movie but it just happens so it was very excited to have such a strong, cool man on my side for my first role, you know it was just a dream come true," said the 28-year-old Sports Illustrated model. She added that "destiny" might have been a factor that had shaped her role in the movie. Irina said her name came from Greek Mythology. "It's a Greek Mythology and my name is Greek, Irina is a Greek name so it's destiny."
Indeed, Irina came from the ancient Greek εἰρήνη, which means "peace."
According to Brett Ratner, who directed the movie, Irina is the one of the most beautiful women in the planet and she deserves to play the role of Hercules' wife. Johnson also has nothing but praises for Irina. "She has just really an amazing look, a very real and authentic look," said Johnson who plays the titular character in the movie.
Meanwhile, Irina is the cover girl of the latest issue of Maxim magazine. Irina's fellow Sports Illustrated model Chrissy Teigen thought the Russian's cover is the prettiest that the magazine has ever had.
"The most beautiful issue of maxim I have ever seen, truly!! @irinashayk congrats," Teigen wrote on Instagram.
Maxim's newest issue hit the stands on July 8 and is available for digital download.
