Apple will release a series of devices this fall including the iPad Air 2 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro. While the attention has been on the iPhone 6, a look at the upcoming features of the Apple's iPad series should also be worthwhile. According to the latest leaks, Apple will be releasing three iPad models with the iPad Air 2 thinner with new TouchID sensor. Can Apple deliver three killer tablets this fall?
A Walmart employee (L) explains Apple iPad options to a customer at a Walmart Supercenter in Rogers, Arkansas June 6, 2013.
The iPad Air received quite a success especially with the introduction of the A7 chip and new form factor. The success of the iPad Air set high expectations for the iPad Air 2. Whereas there have been a series of leaks about the iPad Air 2, Ubergizmo gives access to a new range of photos showing more of the form factor of the upcoming tablet. As with other dummies, people should take the leaked pictures with a grain of salt. The design may or may not find its way to the actual release.
The reported photos come from Japanese published ASCII Plus. The photos show similar details with other leaked dummies but with clearer details. Based from the images, the home button comes with a new ring around it. This shares a similar design with the iPhone 5s showing good evidence that the iPad Air 2 may also sport the TouchID sensor. The device also appears marginally thinner compared to the original render. The images show that the tablet will sport diamond cut edges. Apple seems to be ramping up on the design of the Air tablet.
People will not be able to see the mute/orientation switch on the photos. It is possible that the company decided to eliminate it. Users can access the function via the notification center. Along with the release of the iPad Air 2, BGR reports that the release of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro appears imminent.
According to a tip from Economic Daily News, the Cupertino-based tech giant will be launching three iPad versions namely the 7.9-inch iPad Mini, 9.7-inch iPad Air and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Apple's move to increase the display size of the iPad aligns with its goals to provide better options for enterprise customers.
Apple has not release official announcements yet about its iPad series.
