Nicki Minaj Shocking Revelation at BET Awards 2014: ‘I was about to die’ [PHOTOS]

Nicki Minaj won the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist Award for the fifth time in a row at 2014 BET Awards on June 29, 2014 in Los Angeles. However, when she went on stage, she revealed something shocking. Nicki said that she was about to die. This near-death experience helped her to become herself.

According to a report on ABC News, the rapper humbly accepted the coveted honour for the fifth time and thanked Lil Wayne for all the support. She also talked about writing her own lyrics.

"The other day, literally I didn't tell anybody this, I really thought I was about to die. Like, I was saying my prayers to die. And I didn't even want to call the ambulance because I thought, 'Well if I call the ambulance, it's going to be on TMZ,'" said Nicki.

She added that she would rather sit and die there.

"And it made me realize I don't care what anybody got to say. I'm going to do me," stated the rapper.

Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil Wayne won the Best Group Award for their collaboration as Young Money.

She performed her new single, "Pills N Potions" and came on the stage on a motorcycle.

Nicki looked sexy as she performed the song at 2014 BET Awards.

"Pills N Potions" is the first single from the upcoming album, "The Pink Print."

She will be releasing an album after two years.

"I got enough time to really just focus and get a new perspective on who I was in relation to the industry, in relation to rap and all of that," said the rapper in an interview with BBC 1Xtra's DJ Semtex.

"I am a lot more confident. Of course I named it The Pink Print and of course Jay [Z] has had his Blueprint albums, and that's what I feel like this album is gonna be. I really feel like this album will be a blueprint for female rappers to come, so that alone should tell you how confident I am about the music."
