Mortal Kombat X release date is not exactly a secret when it was officially announced by NetherRealm but it didn't make the official trailer any less significant to its fans.
Ed Boon, the franchise co-creator of the game has been teasing the Mortal Kombat 10 for more than a week now, showing vague photographs and subtle hints via Twitter. But it didn't take long before fans figured that a Mortal Kombat X release date is coming soon. Of course, after the release of Mortal Kombat X posters online, there was not really much question about what the company is currently working on.
Courtesy of Ed Boon, fans got a name; afterwards, the world was given the first look at Mortal Kombat X, courtesy of the official announcement trailer from Warner Bros. Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios.
Mortal Kombat X first trailer offers a two-minute battle between Sub-Zero and Scorpion, with all the brutality and gore scenes that fans have come to enjoy from the franchise. Wiz Khalifa raps an exclusive new song entitled "Can't Be Stopped," while the pair of iconic Mortal Kombat characters Sub Zero and Scorpion beat each other to death in a snowy scene. Moreover, there is also some evidence in the trailer, when Sub-Zero freezes a tree branch to use as a club, that Mortal Kombat X will use environmental attacks, which has been popular in "Injustice: Gods Among Us."
"Mortal Kombat has always been about over-the-top, visceral fighting and with Mortal Kombat X we wanted to utilise the power of new-gen consoles to give players our most intense game yet," Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios claimed.
Thus far, unfortunately, Sub-Zero and Scorpion are the only two characters that are certainly make their way to the next Mortal Kombat X. Although there are some characters that many fans assume will appear in the game, such as Lui Kang, Sonya Blade or Kano, it is unclear which of the series' less known characters will make the cut. Furthermore, there is also a chance that NetherRealms will use Mortal Kombat X to introduce new characters to the 20-year-old game.
