Arsenal FC Transfer News: Gunners Full-Back Ready for World Cup Despite Limited Playing Time and Exit Links

Arsenal skipper Thomas Vermaelen is optimistic that he will be able to be of service to the Belgian national team in the upcoming World Cup despite being used primarily as a reserve at the Emirates this season.

The 28-year-old full-back has only featured fourteen times for the Gunners in the Premier League, starting only seven of those games, while remaining on the bench when the north Londoners defeated Hull City in the FA Cup finals last Saturday.

"I've a lot of experience of sitting on the bench then coming back so I'm not worried about being match fit," Vermaelen told The Sun.

"There is still plenty of preparation time for the World Cup and I will have the chance to play in a few friendly games before the tournament starts."
