Nicole Kidman and Tim Roth, stars in the classic film "Grace of Monaco," appearead at the opening night of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Stars from Hollywood and other parts of the world thronged to watch the screening of the movie, which is based on the life of Grace Kelly. Lead actress Nicole Kidman looked graceful in a shimmery navy blue off shoulder gown as she walked the red carpet.

Actress Blake Lively was seen wearing a gown which revealed her legs just like Angelina Jolie on red carpet. The actress looked stylish and bold in the choice of clothes. Fresh from the success of "Rosemary's Baby," actress Zoe Saldana looked serene in white floor length gown at the Cannes red carpet. Also present was talented actress Jane Fonda who looked graceful in her maroon dress.

French actress Audrey Tautau looked graceful in a black and white ankle length dress that she chose to wear on the red carpet. Former supermodel and actress Laetitia Casta looked sexy in an off shoulder white ruffled dress. Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat was also present at the premiere of "Grace of Monaco" and wore a blue sparkly gown on the red carpet.

Although the movie "Grace of Monaco" has been chosen to open this year's Cannes Film Festival it is not in the competition. The movie is set in the 1960s and focuses on the Grace Kelly's early years as a princess. The movie shows that side of story of Grace's life when she was tempted to return to Hollywood by an offer from Alfred Hitchcock.

Tim Roth plays her husband, Prince Rainier III and Robert Lindsay, Spain's Paz Vega and Sir Derek Jacobi are other cast members. However critics have been quick to slam the movie with not so good reviews.

Movie critic Robbie Collin from The Telegraph has just given one star to the movie and called it "silly."

"Nicole Kidman plays Grace Kelly in the fantastically silly Cannes Film Festival 2014 opener Grace of Monaco, says Robbie Collin," writes Collin in his review.

"Kidman is a terrifically talented actress, but this is a role built on naivety: one of the few things she can't convincingly express," he added.

"It's an easy watch, lush, stylish... and is often side-splittingly funny. The trouble is, it's not actually meant to be a comedy," writes another movie critic Damon Wise from empireonline.com .
