In late March, the Taiwanese smartphone company released HTC One (M8) incorporating more metal with competitive price tag to counter the rival Samsung's plastic based Galaxy S5 and as we wait for the official sales figure of these flagship phones, a report has surfaced online that HTC is preparing groundwork to take on Samsung's second big profit-earner Note Series phablet later this year.

The company is reportedly developing the flagship phablet under the project titled 'M8 Prime' and is tipped to make its debut in September, and the very same time, rival Samsung too is expected to announce the Galaxy Note 4, reported a technology blog, HTCsoku.
A tipster has even listed the specifications of the HTC 'M8 Prime' device at a social network site Weibo. The upcoming flagship phablet is said to flaunt the WQHD (aka 2K) screen with 2560x1440p resolution and packs the Qualcomm's new 805 series chipset (APQ8084) paired with the fourth generation Category 6 LTE modem MDM9x25 which can boost data-transfer speed up to 300 mbps. That's not all, the HTC M8 Prime will also boast of 3GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt storage, USB v3.0 port and an 18.0-megapixel and 5.0-UltraPixel dual-camera combo with depth perception sensors.
However, the leaked specifications of HTC Prime M8 are expected to change before it goes in to production as the device is still in testing phase.
If the rumored features of HTC phablet do turn out to be true, the Taiwanese company has fighting chance to make a comeback to the world's top-five smartphone makers list, but the contest is expected to get heated with table-toppers Samsung and Apple, as they are all set to announce big-screen marquee smartphones (Galaxy Note 4 & iPhone 6) around September. South Korean technology giant LG (currently placed 5 in the toppers list, courtesy IDC) is confirmed to launch 2K display based smartphone 'G3' later this month.
