Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer "2 States" has become second highest grosser flick of 2014, after Salman Khan's "Jai Ho." The film has also shattered the lifetime total of "Gunday" in just 11 days to come on the second spot.

"2 States," directed by Abhishek Varman, was released in around 2000 screens at domestic box office. The film had opened to good response at the box office by earning around ₹12 crore on its opening day. During the first weekend the film maintained its strong hold at the box office.

Since "2 States" was a solo release, it fetched well during the first week. In second week, the film initially faced competition from three other films, but later it dominated the market.

In just 11 days, the film earned around ₹79 crore, beating "Gunday" ₹78 crore mark.

"2 States" will remain steady at the box office in its second week as Thursday (1 May) is a holiday across the country. The film will probably take its 14 days total ₹81 to ₹82 crore.

In the coming weeks no good films are releasing in theaters, which serves as an advantage to "2 States" at domestic market.

As of now, the film requires more ₹22 crore to touch ₹100 crore mark and looking at its two weeks business, the film might enter into century club by the end of week four.

But it is unlikely that the film will beat "Jai Ho" total of ₹116 crore from domestic run.

However, the film has put a decent figure despite the ongoing IPL matches. Also, the film has become a super hit film after earning double its production cost within just 11 days.

Produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala, the film also features Ronit Roy, Amrita Singh, Shiv Kumar Subramaniam and Revathy in important roles.
