The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 (2014) was released in January of this year while the Google Nexus 7 was released in the mid of last year. Both the Nexus 7 and the Tab 10.1 are Android phones.

Typically, the Nexus 7 is a good choice because it enjoys the direct support from Google, and will receive all the Android updates much earlier than any other vendors' devices. Besides, there is no lag caused by the user interface of a third party using the Google's Android operating system. But the software and hardware specifications should be the deal breaker when deciding on tablets.

Readers who are planning on buying one of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 (2014) or the Google Nexus 7, here is the specification and price comparison pertaining to Australia.

Display & Size

The Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 has a 10.1 inches screen with a screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels whereas the Google Nexus 7 has a much smaller screen size of 7 inches with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels. Even though the resolution of Tab Pro 10.1 is relatively higher than the Nexus 7, the pixel density from Nexus 7 is 323 ppi while the Tab pro offers only 299 ppi range. Additionally, the Nexus 7 display uses IPS LCD technology while the Tab Pro 10.1 uses a super clear LCD technology. Potential buyers who are very particular about brighter display should opt for Nexus 7.

The dimensions of the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 are (9.57 x 6.75 x 0.29) inches and it weighs 469 g, whereas the Nexus 7 has dimensions of (7.87 x 4.49 x 0.34) inches and it weighs a cool 299 g.
