The air date of the second outing of “True Detective” is yet to be announced and nothing is yet known about its casting. But that hasn’t stopped some of Hollywood’s biggest stars from expressing their desire to be on HBO’s popular crime drama that had Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the lead roles.

While both McConaughey and Harrelson confirmed they wouldn’t be returning for Season two, a number of actors have expressed a desired to be part of the gritty show that deals with satanic cult abuse.

Recently, 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' actress Emma Stone said that she would love to do the crime drama if it was offered to her.

“That would be amazing. I would do True Detective with Kristen Wiig in a heartbeat,” she told Vogue in an interview.

Speculations are also rife that “Transcendence” actress Kate Mara and “Juno” star Ellen Page will form the next detective duo.

Interestingly, Brad Pitt’s name was also thrown in as a possible cast member, but an HBO insider debunked the rumors saying the actor wasn’t being eyed for the role.

Meanwhile, creator of “True Detective” Nic Pizzolatto said in an earlier interview that the second season will move out of Louisiana and into Southern California. He added that the story will revolve around “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system,” according to Buzzfeed.

At the same time, he noted that future seasons could take a different route. “And, you know, there could be a season that’s much more of a widespread conspiracy thriller, a season that’s a small town murder mystery, a season where nobody is murdered and it’s a master criminal versus a rogue detective or something. Even the title, ‘True Detective,’ is meant to be, of course, purposefully somewhat generic before you even get to the there are deeper indications,” he told The Wrap.
