A pooja ceremony was held at Sri Viswaroopa Shirdi Saibaba Temple in Valasaravakkam, near producer AM Ratnam's office. Director Menon, Ratnam, his son Jothikrishna and Ajith's manager Suresh Chandra attended the pooja. However, Ajith was missing from the ceremony.

A formal clap and a trial scene will be shot after the pooja, reported the Times of India. The film's shooting all set to commence on 11 April.

While Ajith is confirmed to play the lead role, the makers are yet to announce the details about the film's other cast and crew members.

Anushka Shetty is reportedly confirmed to play the female lead opposite Ajith. During the audio launch of upcoming film "Saivam," director Vijay revealed that Shetty will be working with Gautham in his upcoming project. But, an official confirmation about the "Singam 2" actress's presence in the film is still awaited.

Speculations are rife that Arun Vijay will be doing the villain role and Aadhi of "Eeram" fame will also be part of the project. On the technical front, rumours are doing the rounds that Harris Jayaraj will be reuniting with Menon for "Thala 55" after nearly six years. However, these details are yet to be confirmed.

Ajith fans are eagerly waiting for "Thala 55" as the actor is teaming up with Menon for the first time. Ajith has been on a roll following back-to-back successful films like "Arrambam" and "Veeram."  The stupendous success of his last two films has increased the expectations surrounding "Thala 55."

The film's shooting will reportedly be completed at one stretch. It is likely to hit the screens this year.
