Lok Sabha Elections 2014: Revamped Google India Election Hub Rates Politicians, Encourages Voting

In a bid to encourage voting in the upcoming general election 2014, Google has introduced the revamped Election Hub webpage with new tools.

Google India, Director of Marketing, Sandeep Menon, on his official blog said that the new tools in the election tracker page will help Indian voters get informed, engaged and inspired for the voting day.

The Election Hub home page provides user a platform to voice their pledge for voting on the live India map, and also view the pledges of the fellow citizen of the country and give scores on trending political leaders of the country as well as info-graphics on top searched local chief ministers, region parties and more.

"For the first time, Google's engineers have created a 'Google Score' tool, which reflects the amount of search activity for a person in the previous 24 hours using Google Search and YouTube, combined with the amount of engagement with a person's name on Google+", said Menon

Apart from scoring leaders, Google Election hub also lets users interact with leaders online live at specific scheduled time. On 25 March, BJP leader Arun Jaitley kick-started the online public-interaction at the Hangout page; Today (27 March), Congress leader Jairam Ramesh will be answering questions from citizens of India. Other scheduled political leaders include - Madhya Pradesh, chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan (29 March), former Union Sports minister- Ajay Maken (30 March), J&K, chiedf minister, Omar Abdullah (5 April), anti-corruption messiah- Anna Hazare (7 April) and president of National Congress Party- Sharad Pawar (8 April).
