Liverpool will look to keep the pressure on Chelsea and Manchester City when they host Sunderland in the English Premier League on Wednesday night.

The Reds are still very much in the title race, trailing Chelsea by four points, with a win over struggling Sunderland, taking them to within a point of the league leaders.

City remain in pole position for the Premier League title, after their battering of Manchester United, and the fact they have two games in hand over leaders Chelsea. But Liverpool will know picking up win after win will only pile on the pressure on the other two title rivals.

"We're on the right path and the players are playing with no fear and great enthusiasm," Rodgers said. "I think every manager will tell you -- when you come up against an opponent who shows no fear in the game to pass the ball and the courage to get on the ball, and then can flood forward in numbers and get a goal, that's always something that can make you think.

"You know you need to set your team up to counter that. We're just really enjoying the moment and enjoying the football. We've still got a hell of a long way to go before we're near to where I want us to be, but certainly we're making strides in order to get there.

"It's good for the fans to see the level of our performance. It's great that they can feel excitement and get that little bounce by going to watch their team. For us, it's just a combination of continual work."

Liverpool have been the entertainers of the league in the second half of the season, taking on the mantle from Manchester City, and Brendan Rodgers' men showed their attacking prowess yet again, coming from a goal down to thump Cardiff, thanks to a hat-trick from the unstoppable Luis Suarez.

Sunderland are desperate for any point at the moment, lying third from bottom and fighting for their Premier League lives. They do have a few games in hand over their rivals, though, but even Poyet will know any point against this rampaging Liverpool side, who look almost unbeatable at Anfield, will be a bonus.

"We have got 10 games. I am not going to hide," Poyet said. "I am going to be here and I am going to take responsibility, but let's wait and see. In the same way as I ask the fans to wait until the last game of the season to give their opinion on the team and the signings and individuals, I am going to do the same.

"Until the last game of the season, the last second against Swansea, I am going to be here believing it's possible because if not, it's not worth it, let's be honest. I am not going to be here just to have a job. I am here because I believe that we can be better than at least three teams. That's the aim from here to then."

Liverpool find themselves fighting for the title primarily because of one man - a striker who has brought smiles to the faces of even opposing fans - even if they might never admit it - courtesy his unimaginable skills and unerring ability to create or score goals.

While praise has been aplenty for Rodgers, and the way he has built this team, and rightly so, Poyet believes Liverpool would have been nowhere near the position they find themselves in, without his compatriot Suarez in the team.

"Without Suarez, they [Liverpool] would probably be in mid-table," Poyet said. "It's not about how they play, how they defend, how they pass the ball, it's about having a player who is going to be voted the best player of the year by everybody, if we are honest.

"I saw him once in a summer friendly game. He was just starting, I think he was 17 or 18. He was a powerful striker playing on his own, but of course, not the player we are seeing today. To be honest, I wasn't even thinking he would be so good. He played a decent game, but now he is on another level.

"Now you can compare him with the top players in the world because he makes the difference somehow."
