Frontman for the satirical metal band Gwar, David Brockie, 50, has been found dead at his Virginia home. Police mentioned that officers were called to David's home on Sunday evening and found him dead. They are not suspecting any kind of foul play and an autopsy will determine the real cause of death.
Jack Flanagan, Gwar's manager, released a statement confirming the death of David Brockie, known for his prosthetic makeup as Oderus Urungus.
"My dear friend Dave Brockie, artist, musician, and lead singer of Gwar passed away at approximately 6.50pm (US EST) Sunday March 23, 2014. His body was found Sunday by his band mate at his home in Richmond, VA," said Jack, as reported by SMH.
Jack also stated that Richmond authorities confirmed his death and next of his kin had been notified.
"My main focus right now is to look after my band mates and his family. More information regarding his death shall be released as the details are confirmed."
Former Gwar guitar player Steve Douglas wrote a message on Facebook.
"I have had a few bad days in my life but this one truly ranks right up there."
"Dave Brockie, I do not know what happened to you yet, but I know you are gone, and it is hurting very badly!"
Gwar gained cult status for being outrageous on the stage with mind-boggling costumes and thrash metal music. David Brockie co-founded the band in the 80s with arts students at Virginia Commonwealth University.
David Brockie said that his job was to scream into a microphone and bash gigantic dinosaurs with his long sword.
It is believed that Ungus and other fellow alien raiders like Balasac the Jaws of Death and Flattus Maximus lands on this planet some 43 million years ago. After having intercourse with apes, these aliens created the human race. Later, the aliens got themselves frozen in ice and were dissolved in 1980 to form an extra-terrestrial band Gwar.
