Popular Music Composer Ilayaraja's Official Fan Club to Launch on 5 April

The official fan club of the music maestro Ilaiyaraaja will be officially launched on 5 April. The fan club, which will be a government registered one, will have Ilaiyaraaja 's son Karthik Raja as its chairman and one of the trustees.

"Although there are several fan groups on social networking sites and other places, this will be the first official fan club for the music director, who, with his music, has won the hearts of millions across the world. An announcement to this effect will be made on 5 April at Madurai, where his son Karthik Raja is to perform," Velusamy, one of the managing trustees of the fan club and a film producer, told Times of India.

According to an official press statement, more than one crore people will be registering themselves with the official fan club, which has got Ilaiyaraaja 's consent. Many playback singers and celebrities are expected to register themselves as honorary members. The fan club's core unit will have 60 members and more than 1,800 honorary posts, reported the daily.

The main objective of the fan club is to bring all Ilaiyaraaja  fans under one roof and also to use it for social activities that the veteran music composer intends to do.

It is being said that a weekly magazine named "Isaignani" will also be launched on 5 April.

There is more exciting news for Ilaiyaraaja fans.

Popular movie portal, Taste of Cinema, has come out with a list of 25 greatest film composers in cinema history.

"Isaignani" Ilaiyaraaja 's name also features in the list that includes the names of world's popular composers like Hans Zimmer and John Williams. Ilaiyaraaja has been ranked 9th among 25 greatest film composers of the world cinema.

To check out the complete list, click HEREThe website stated that Ilaiyaraaja is "Regarded as one of the finest music composers in India, Ilaiyaraaja is also an instrumentalist, conductor, singer, and a songwriter."

"To date, he has composed over 4500 songs and provided film scores for more than 950 Indian films in various languages, particularly being acclaimed for his background scoring. His songs and background score played a very crucial role in the success of many films," it further added.

It is indeed a proud moment for fans of the composer as well as for the music lovers.
