The news has been confirmed by the film's director Lingusamy. In an interview to Boxofficeindia, Lingusamy has revealed that Suriya is playing double role in "Anjaan" and also stated that both the characters will be very stylish.

"Anjaan" is Lingusamy's first film with Suriya. While sharing about his experience of working with Suriya, Lingusmay told the website that he had a great experience working with the "Singam 2" star as he is a dedicated actor.

Revealing about the film and Suriya's role, the director said, "In my film, "Anjaan," Suriya plays a gangster from the Mumbai underworld and we have styled him in a very stylish avatar. This is the first time he will be playing a double role in which both the characters are stylish."

"We have revealed only the first look of the film so far and the buzz is quite good. It is a completely commercial film packaged with a little suspense, drama, action and romance. On the whole, it's a massy film, a holiday release, which will hit the screens on 15 August."

Interestingly, it will not be the first time that Suriya will be doing dual characters. In the past, the actor has done double roles in films such as "Perazhagan", "Vel", "Vaaram Aayiram", "Maatran" and "7 am arivu."

"Anjaan" shooting is progressing at a brisk pace in Mumbai and 70 percent of the film is reportedly finished.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu plays the female lead, while other cast members include comedian Soori, Manoj Bajpai, Vidyut Jammwal, Rajpal Yadav and Dalip Tahil.

"Anjaan" cinematography is handled by Santosh Siva, whereas editing is done by Anthony. The film is jointly produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Thirrupathi Brothers.
