Arsenal have won the two North London Derbies against Tottenham this season without too many worries - one in the English Premier League and the other in the FA Cup - both at the Emirates.

Come Sunday, the Gunners will look to take that form against their bitter rivals to White Hart Lane when the two sides clash in the Premier League.

Arsenal can afford nothing less than three points against Spurs if they are to maintain their chase for the title. Chelsea dropping three points on Saturday would have come as a huge boost to the chasing pack, and Arsenal can close the gap to four points, with a game in hand, courtesy a win at White Hart Lane.

"It has always been difficult at White Hart Lane but we are in a position where of course we want to win the game," Arsene Wenger said.

"After Stoke [a 1-0 loss] it was very important that we had a good result against Everton, we had a good result even at Bayern but [it remains important] that we continue and have no weak moment any more until the end of the season."

"With the season that we have in front of us now every game is a final."

Tottenham are only six points behind Arsenal, albeit having played a game more, but have had a difficult couple of games. A heavy loss to Chelsea led to Tim Sherwood blasting his players for showing a lack of desire and fight, but the manager could not provoke an improved performance, as Spurs were outdone by Benfica in the Europa League on Thursday.

Players generally don't need too much motivation to bring their best in a North London Derby, and Sherwood will certainly hope that is the case come Sunday.

"They are experienced enough to know that there is no bigger platform to springboard the season again than a win at home against Arsenal," said Sherwood who scored the winner for Spurs in a 2-1 victory over Arsenal way back in 1999.

"It's a fantastic occasion. It always was to play in these games and this will be my first time as manager to stand opposite Arsene Wenger. Hopefully we'll get one over on them."

Arsenal were impressive against Everton in the FA Cup last weekend, picking up a 4-1 win which put them through to the semifinals. However, despite a decent 1-1 draw against Champions League title-holders Bayern Munich on Tuesday, there is still a feeling of a just-not-quite-there team that lingers.

If the Gunners want to banish those thoughts, then all three points against Spurs is an absolute must; throw in a brilliant performance to go with it, then the Premier League title might still be well within their realm.

Team news: Tottenham: Former Gunner Emmanuel Adebayor is struggling to be fit for the game with an ankle injury, while Mousa Dembele and Kyle Walker are also doubts. Gylfi Sigurdsson is expected to be available after missing the Benfica clash, but Michael Dawson, Vlad Chiriches, Etienne Capoue and Erik Lamela remain sidelined. Younes Kaboul is available for selection after having his red card against Chelsea overturned.

Arsenal: Wenger has a big injury list with Theo Walcott and Abou Diaby sidelined long-term, while Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil will miss the next few games. It was thought Aaron Ramsey might be available for the Spurs game, but the midfielder continues to struggle to overcome a thigh injury.

"Our worry at the moment is that Ramsey takes longer than expected," Wenger said. "He had a first setback before and now it's slower. It was the plan for him to join in on Thursday but he still has recurrent pains in his thigh and of course he's now a little bit apprehensive because of the setback he had. We have to be very cautious with him. When will he be back? I believe it's two more weeks now."

Nacho Monreal is available while Kim Kallstrom could be handed an Arsenal debut. Kieran Gibbs and Yaya Sanogo face late fitness tests.

Expected lineups: Tottenham: Lloris; Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Rose; Lennon, Paulinho, Bentaleb, Eriksen; Adebayor, Soldado.

Arsenal: Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Arteta, Flamini; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky, Cazorla; Giroud.

Prediction: 2-2
