Bollywood actors Shahid Kapoor and Tabu have reportedly been approached for director Vikas Bahl's next.

Bahl recently delivered the highly acclaimed "Queen", starring Kangana Ranaut, and was in the news again for signing Kapoor for his next film.

Now reports have emerged that the director has signed Kapoor and his "Haider" co-star Tabu for his next project, titled "Return Gift".

"Vikas has already finished writing the script for one film, and he has finalised the star cast for the same. The film is titled 'Return Gift', and it will feature Shahid Kapoor and Tabu in it. Shooting for the film is scheduled to start soon," revealed a source to Mid Day.

Reports have hinted the actors may play a romantic pair in the film and, if that is the case, Bahl's choice is indeed uncanny and is one that has not been tried yet.

Previously, Tabu had romanced veteran Amitabh Bachchan in "Cheeni Kum" (2007) and hence it would not be surprising if she romances Kapoor, who is quite a few years younger to her.

Kapoor and Tabu will also be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's "Haider", the Kashmir shooting of which was recently wrapped up.

It was earlier reported by The Times of India that Bahl's project with Kapoor would be a destination wedding film, a first for India, and would be titled "Shaandar".

However, neither the filmmaker nor the actors have confirmed any details regarding the film yet.

Meanwhile, the "Life of Pi" actress was recently approached for Zoya Akhtar's "Dil Dhadakne Do" but the 42-year-old is understood to have turned it down as the role demanded her to play mother to Priyanka Chopra.

"Tabu was approached to star in Zoya's film around five months ago but she turned down the role in the first meeting as she didn't think she suited the part. She is a star and has a wide repertoire of roles that have been appreciated by fans and critics alike. She felt that Priyanka's mother's role didn't fit in with what she is currently looking out for," revealed a source to Mid Day.
